DJ Universe

Welcome back to Clone Wars: The Spinoff. It’s DJ Universe, and this is a special episode because the Clone Wars lineup is changing again. I’ve got Dangerous Zygos with me.

Dangerous Zygos

You already know what time it is.

DJ Universe

Calvin Blingwell is in the building.

Calvin Blingwell

Always.

DJ Universe

And before we introduce the man sitting in that fourth chair today, we need to address the change. Lil Bennington is no longer with Down By Law Management, and because of that, he’s also no longer occupying the fourth host position on Clone Wars. We’re not going to turn somebody’s departure into gossip. We’re not going to speculate. We’re not going to manufacture controversy for clicks. Sometimes business relationships change. Sometimes rosters change. Sometimes the next chapter requires a different lineup. What matters is how you move forward.

Dangerous Zygos

And that’s part of business too. People hear us talk about ownership, contracts, infrastructure and professionalism all the time. Well, transitions are part of infrastructure. The mission has to be bigger than any one person.

Calvin Blingwell

Exactly. A real organization has to survive change. Artists change. Teams change. Markets change. Technology changes. But if the foundation is strong, the mission keeps moving.

DJ Universe

And our mission hasn’t changed. Knowledge of self. Ownership. Financial literacy. Artist development. Hip-hop culture. Generational wealth. Building careers that can survive beyond one record, one viral moment or one platform. So today, we’re introducing the artist who will be stepping into that fourth chair. The newest member of the Down By Law Management roster. The newest member of the Hip-Hop Hero League. And the new fourth host of the weekly Clone Wars podcast. Greedy Boi. Welcome to Clone Wars.

Greedy Boi

I appreciate it. I’m coming into this ready to work. I’m an artist first, but I understand that there’s a lot more to building a career than making records. I’m here to bring my perspective, learn from everybody at this table, and add something to what Clone Wars is building.

DJ Universe

That’s what the fourth chair requires. You’re not here as a guest. You’re not here for one episode and then disappearing. Starting now, when people hear Clone Wars, they’re hearing DJ Universe, Dangerous Zygos, Calvin Blingwell and Greedy Boi. That’s the lineup.

Dangerous Zygos

New soldier. Same war.

Calvin Blingwell

And the war is against bad business.

DJ Universe

Bad contracts. Bad accounting. Bad planning.

Greedy Boi

And artists not knowing what they own.

DJ Universe

See? He’s already catching on.

DJ Universe

Greedy, people are hearing you on Clone Wars for the first time. So I don’t want the corporate biography. Tell the audience what Greedy Boi represents.

Greedy Boi

Greedy Boi represents hunger. And when I say hunger, I’m not just talking about wanting money. I’m talking about wanting more out of yourself. More growth. More knowledge. More creativity. More opportunities. More ownership. I’ve got music already out there, but I’m looking at this as another stage of building.

Dangerous Zygos

I like that distinction. Because the word greedy usually gets interpreted negatively. But hunger can mean refusing to become comfortable.

Greedy Boi

Exactly. You can be hungry for knowledge. Hungry to improve. Hungry to take care of your family. Hungry to turn something you’re passionate about into something sustainable. That’s where I’m coming from.

Calvin Blingwell

Then we’re going to make you earn that name on this show. Because if you’re greedy for knowledge, we’re going to give you plenty to study.

Greedy Boi

Let’s do it.

DJ Universe

And this is exactly why the Hip-Hop Hero League exists. It isn’t enough for us to say, “Here’s another artist.” We’re trying to develop artists who understand both sides of this industry. The microphone and the paperwork. The studio and the spreadsheet. The creativity and the commerce. The record and the rights.

Dangerous Zygos

Because plenty of talented people have made great music and still ended up with nothing. Talent doesn’t automatically create ownership.

Calvin Blingwell

And income doesn’t automatically create wealth. That’s one of the biggest lessons we keep coming back to. You could make a hundred thousand dollars and spend a hundred and ten thousand. You had income. You didn’t build wealth.

Greedy Boi

And that’s something I want to learn more about. Not just getting paid, but understanding what happens after you get paid. How do you build from it?

DJ Universe

That’s the right question. Because this new management relationship isn’t about Down By Law owning Greedy Boi. That’s important. Management and ownership are not the same thing. The objective is to put infrastructure around the artist. Career development. Release strategy. Brand development. Collaborations. Licensing. Marketing. Merchandise. Audience development. Business opportunities. Then the artist has to do the work.

Dangerous Zygos

And that last sentence is important. Management cannot want your career more than you do.

Calvin Blingwell

Management can create organization. Management can provide strategy. Management can make introductions. But nobody can manufacture your work ethic for you.

Greedy Boi

That’s on me.

DJ Universe

Exactly. Welcome to the League. Now earn the jersey.

DJ Universe

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Somebody listening is probably thinking, “Didn’t Clone Wars just introduce another fourth host?” Yes. We did. And now circumstances have changed. That’s business.

Dangerous Zygos

And there’s actually a lesson for independent artists inside that. Don’t build an entire operation where changing one person destroys the operation.

Calvin Blingwell

That’s called key-person dependency. It happens in businesses all the time. One person has all the passwords. One person understands the finances. One person knows where the files are. One person controls the audience. Then that person leaves and everybody starts panicking.

DJ Universe

Which is why Clone Wars isn’t one individual. It’s an ecosystem. The personalities matter. The chemistry matters. But the mission has to survive roster changes. That’s what we’re doing today. We’re not pretending the previous chapter didn’t happen. We’re simply turning the page.

Greedy Boi

And from my side, I’m not coming here trying to imitate the person who had the seat before me. I’ve got to bring myself to it.

Dangerous Zygos

That’s exactly what you should do. Because the worst thing you could do is become a replacement character. You’re not Lil Bennington 2.0. You’re Greedy Boi one point O.

Calvin Blingwell

Maybe update to 1 point 1 after the first episode.

Greedy Boi

Give me a week.

DJ Universe

That’s what I want. Different perspective. Different life experience. Different artistic identity. Same commitment to the mission.

DJ Universe

And here’s something else artists need to understand. A professional transition doesn’t require a public war. Every separation doesn’t need a diss record. Every business change doesn’t need twenty Instagram Lives. Sometimes you acknowledge that something changed, handle the necessary business, protect everybody’s rights, and keep building.

Dangerous Zygos

That right there is maturity. Hip-hop is competitive. That’s part of the culture. But business requires discipline.

DJ Universe

And knowledge of self plays into that. If your entire identity depends on who’s standing beside you, you haven’t fully established your foundation. Know yourself. Know your role. Know your mission. Then when circumstances change, you can adapt without losing yourself.

Greedy Boi

That’s something I can relate to. I don’t want this opportunity to define me. I want what I do with the opportunity to define me.

Calvin Blingwell

That’s a bar. Because opportunities disappear. Skills stay. Knowledge stays. Relationships can stay. Assets can stay. And intellectual property can keep producing value long after the original moment is gone.

DJ Universe

That’s why we keep saying it. Legacy over hype.

DJ Universe

Now we get to the official part. Greedy Boi, you’re stepping into two positions today. First, you’re joining the Down By Law Management roster. Second, you’re entering the Hip-Hop Hero League. And the League comes with responsibilities.

Greedy Boi

I’m listening.

DJ Universe

Number one. Know what you create.

Dangerous Zygos

Number two. Know what you own.

Calvin Blingwell

Number three. Know where your money comes from and where it goes.

DJ Universe

Number four. Protect your name and your reputation like they’re assets, because they are.

Dangerous Zygos

Number five. Don’t let clout convince you that attention and leverage are the same thing.

Calvin Blingwell

And number six. Think longer than the next release.

Greedy Boi

That’s the part I really want to build on. Long-term thinking.

DJ Universe

Then let’s start right now. Imagine it’s 2036. Ten years. What do you want Greedy Boi to represent?

Greedy Boi

Growth. Somebody who took what he had and kept building. I want the music to grow. I want the business to grow. I want the audience to grow. And I want to be in a position where what I built can help
